Cx-2 is the proactive approach to contractor requirement to document equipment startup these standardized checklists can be inserted into Division 18000, Part 3-Execution section of the contract specification as electronic documents for the contractor to copy and hang on individual pieces of equipment to be signed off by the various trades, as the installation becomes “system ready.”

Based on experience and time-tested, these individual equipment checklists can be edited on a job-by-job basis to assure the contractor will provide the pertinent startup data necessary to confirm system readiness and help the contractor to be prepared to move into the next phase of commissioning, the Functional Performance Test demonstration.
When used, each checklist offers an overview for signoff by the following:

• Electrical contractor
• Automatic temperature control contractor
• Plumbing contractor
• Sheet metal contractor
• Insulation contractor
• HVAC contractor
• Equipment manufacturer with associated manufacturer's startup sheet
• Testing, adjusting, and balancing contractor

Cx-2 contains a series of 30 electronic checklists to document the startup procedures and punch list of equipment installation per contract requirements. It also includes 36 equipment-specific checklists. This second module is ready for editing for each job and easy to use with its "pass-fail" application that is ideally suited when downloaded into a handheld computer or laptop computer. This module can be useful for the facility manager, trade contractor, design engineer, commissioning engineer, design-builder, general contractor, equipment vendor, and construction manager.
